HURRICANE RELIEF | chironnanew-new

Beloved, I’ll get right to the point. Many Floridians are in crisis. Millions lack power, temperatures are soaring, hard-hit communities lack water, fuel is scarce. Homes are lost and church buildings have been devastated. Irma’s effects are so widespread that community food banks and other critical resources are depleted. First responders and volunteers are doing phenomenal work, but they need our help, fast.

Yes, Irma directly affected our church family and local community. But we see the incredible opportunity we have been given, right now, to be the hands and feet of Jesus to others. So here’s what we are doing/have done so far:

  • Partnering with city officials, local school systems, and other key agencies to understand their needs and provide assistance

  • Restocking our local school system’s food pantry so they can resume serving families in need

  • Delivering lunches to police and fire departments and other first responders who are giving their all

  • Assembling cleanup crews to assist local communities with debris removal

  • Opening our church as a safe haven for locals who need relief from the heat and a place to freshen up, recharge their electronics, snack, and be comforted

  • Drop-shipped four pallets of water (7,680 bottles) to a Fort Myers church with which we have ongoing relationship

  • Sent financial aid to a church in Miami that faithfully serves the Haitian community but was tragically destroyed by Irma and will need ongoing assistance

Many are suffering. We cannot stand idly by. As we seek to help others, we also need to replenish our own food pantry, which serves 300 people each week. Will you please help us to continue being a light to our neighbors in need? Due to power outages, many families had to throw away all of their food. We want to bless them with financial gifts so they can restore what they have lost.

We need your help more than ever. Disaster relief takes resources, and the window of opportunity to bless our neighbors is now.

I am appealing to you because I know your heart is not just to go to church but to be the Church. I can promise you this: Every gift counts. Lives will be touched. And we will be forever grateful!

God bless and keep you as you bless others!
